The Kingfishers Cwtch Shepherds Hut is set on our smallholding, on the edge of the River Wye, with spectacular views of the River Wye in one direction and the Black Mountains of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) in the other with the gorgeous Wye Valley in between.
We are ideally located for your weekend break, escape to the country, with the ideal location in the rural countryside only a 5 minute walk from the Wye Valley Walk, but also being close to Hay on Wye (and Hay Festival), Builth Wells (and Royal Welsh Show), Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains and Llangors Lake among many others. Easy to get to via Public Transport, with just a 2 minute walk from the bus stop in Llyswen along the A470.
Our self catering accommodation is in a secluded, beautiful, romantic spot, overlooking the horseshoe bend of the River Wye in Llyswen. It has en suite facilities (with toilet, and shower), a kitchenette, a full size double bed, underfloor heating and Sheeps wool insulation making it cosy whatever the season, alongside a wood burner for chillier days or nights. Our Shepherds Hut is the ideal more luxurious holiday cottage alternative to camping, a glamping pod, yurt or safari tent. You will be surrounded with wildlife on your rural retreat with the Red Kites in the sky to the salmon in the River Wye.
You can go site seeing, hiking or fishing among many other things to do close by on your holiday or just relax, watching the Otters lazing and the Kingfishers flitting underneath the Red Kites drifting above you followed by relaxing under the stars when the sun goes down on the edge of the Dark Sky Reserve.
Well Behaved Dogs are welcome to stay with their owners but cannot be left unattended in the Hut at any time. Our Boutique Retreat is perfect for strolls with your smaller four legged friend or hikes with your bigger canine best friend. The Hut is set in it’s own small field, surrounded with livestock fencing and railings to stop dogs escaping.
Outside, we have our electric Hot Tub (no waiting for it to heat up like a wood fired hot tub), undercover so you can watch the river out of the rain. You also have your own private parking (with enough space for 2 cars) and a 22kW Type 2 Car Charger. You will need to bring your own charging cable and payment is via app.
Our Romantic Shepherds Hut with Hot Tub will be a delight for couples weekend breaks, whatever your interests. You could spend your holiday immersing yourself in our restful rural retreat in the unspoilt countryside, search for action and go canoeing, kayaking or paddleboarding on Llangors Lake or on the River Wye, do a little or a lot of hiking in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons), spend a restful day fishing on the River Wye, visit or compete at the biggest Agricultural Show in Europe- the Royal Welsh Show or pay a visit to see an author at Hay Festival. Stay at our little piece of heaven in Breconshire, in the heart of Mid Wales, (Powys) and you will realise how it is possible to be on holiday in the middle of nowhere, but also close to everywhere (2 minute walk to the pub, or a 5 min walk to the petrol station, or the village shop) if you choose to be.
